Watching the hit TLC reality franchise 90 day fiance it’s literally like watching a train wreck: sometimes it’s so horrible you can’t look away. And with various spin-offs, there’s always some kind of drama on Sunday and Monday nights.
in the flagship 90 day fiance series, which premiered in January 2014, the couples consist of a U.S. citizen and a foreign national who have already applied for and obtained a K-1 visa, also known as a “fiancé visa,” which allows the foreign national to enter the United States under the condition that they will marry their partner within 90 days. TLC’s cameras document the 90-day countdown to their wedding days, which are almost always filled with fights, stress and tears.
The first spin-off, 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?features fan-favorite couples who were previously in 90 day fiance and they are already married. The series premiered in September 2016 and documents the couples’ struggles as they adjust to their new life together. For most of them, the honeymoon phase is over pretty quickly.
With the success of Happy forever?TLC ordered a second spin-off in November 2016, 90 Day Fiancé: Before 90 Days. The series documents a couple —formed by a US citizen and a foreigner— who maintain a long-distance relationship. Most couples have yet to meet in person after dating online, and it’s usually the American who travels to the foreign country to meet for the first time. Other couples previously met while on vacation, and most of them get engaged during their seasons so they can begin the K-1 visa process. Couples who obtain their K-1 visas can return to the franchise on 90 day fiance appropriate.
90 Day Fiancé: What Now? Originally launched as a web series in March 2017, but following huge success, it is now premiering online first via the TLCgo app before airing on TV. couples appearing in Now what? all have appeared in other spin-offs of the franchise.
For couples who have not been asked to rejoin any of the previous spin-offs, most likely because they are no longer together or because they no longer have a compelling story to tell, they may be asked to return to the franchise in the spin-off. 90 Day Fiancé: Pillow Talk. The show, which premiered in April 2019, allows fans to see their favorite stars as they watch the current season of the franchise and react to stories.
Following the great success of all previous spin-offs, TLC debuted 90 Day Fiancé: To the Other Side in May 2019. The show went around the 90 day fiance premise, so the American is the one who moves to a foreign country to be with the one they love.
In addition to all the spin-offs, two sets of fan-favorite stars received their own spin-offs based on their own lives and their families. the family songpresenting chantel and Pedro Jimeno of 90 day fiance season 4, debuted in April 2019. In August 2020, a spin-off with 90 Day Fiancé: Before 90 Days stars darcey and stacey silvatitled darcey and staceypremiered.
The franchise also released two limited series in 2020. 90 Day Fiancé: Self-Quarantine was a self-filmed miniseries featuring fan-favorite couples sharing updates on their lives while in quarantine during the coronavirus pandemic. B90 strikes back! features the cast of season 4 90 Day Fiancé: Before 90 Days as they react to fan comments and tweets about them.
For all the relationship drama, the show has a pretty good track record. Most of the couples that have appeared on the show are still together, and only a handful of them are divorced or separated.
