Unfortunately, their love story has been full of ups and downs, and led her to file for divorce from the rapper.
News broke of their decision to file papers to legally end their marriage on February 19, 2021, but for some fans, the writing was on the wall.
After meeting in the early 2000s, Kim and Kanye dated other people. Their friendship didn’t turn romantic until after Kim. She filed for divorce of kris humphries in October 2011 after 72 days of marriage. Later, Kim reflected on her relationship history and revealed that her marriage to the former NBA star made her realize her feelings for Kanye.
“Just before I married Kris Humphries, [Kanye and I] we were talking, and I just went in a different direction,” he recalled in the keeping up with the Kardashians 10th Anniversary Special, which aired in 2017. “I think I had to go through that to figure out what I wanted. After my breakup, I was feeling really down, and he told me, ‘Just come to Paris and watch my fashion show. She jokes that she put on this whole fashion show just to get me on a date. So I went there and stayed with him, and that’s where we started dating. I swear from the moment I landed, I fell head over heels in love with it and thought, ‘Oh my gosh, why didn’t I do this sooner?’ Like, that’s what real life is like: love, fun, and real support.”
Kimye’s whirlwind romance quickly heated up. By December 2012, they were expecting baby number 1. Kim gave birth to her first child, northwest daughter, in June 2013. In October of that year, Kanye proposed to Kim in front of family and friends at the San Francisco Giants ballpark, AT&T Park. The couple married in Florence, Italy on May 24, 2014.
The KKW Beauty founder and “Famous” rapper welcomed their second child, Your saintin December 2015. The following year, they resisted Kim’s robbery in Paris in October 2016 and Kanye’s November 2016 hospitalization for exhaustion, shortly after the Chicago native canceled his concert tour following an onstage tirade in Sacramento.
Kanye and Kim welcomed two more children throughout their marriage: daughter chicago in January 2018 and son psalm in May 2019 due to surrogacy. Shortly after welcoming their youngest son, the couple celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary with a romantic vow renewal ceremony planned by the creator of Skims.
Unfortunately, the couple’s relationship hit a rough patch in July 2020 after six years of marriage. Their marital problems continued into the new year, and Kim became “serious” about wanting a divorce.
“Kim and Kanye’s marriage has finally reached the point of no return. they spent most of [2020] separate vacation, and Kim is talking to divorce lawyers,” a source revealed to In contact before her filing, adding that Kim “wanted to go ahead” with the procedure.
