‘American Idol’ Contestant Slams Katy Perry for ‘Mom-Shaming’

Shout. Katy Perry was hit by a american idol contestant for pulling a “mom-shaming” joke.

During the March 5 episode of the singing competition show, contestant sara beth love appeared before the judges Katy, 38, lionel richie and luke bryan auditioned for a performance of Amy Winehouse’s “You Know I’m No Good.”

After the judges took note of how young Sara Beth, 25, looked like, the trio were left in shock when she revealed that she is the mother of three children. Katy even got up from her chair to fan herself.

“If Katy lies on the table, I think I’m going to pass out,” Sarah Beth said.

Katy referred to Sara Beth’s family by replying, “Honey, you’ve been laying on the table too much.”

Three days after the audition aired, the contestant took to TikTok to blast Katy for making the comment that she “wasn’t very nice.”

“It was embarrassing to have that on TV, and it was painful and that’s it,” Sara Beth said. “I think women who support and encourage other women are great and I think mother-shaming is so pathetic and I think it’s hard enough being a mother and it’s hard enough being a woman.”

The video concluded with the mother of three sending a message of hope to her followers. “I see all the young moms and moms in general…keep loving your babies,” she said. “Nobody deserves to feel bad about it.”

Sara Beth made it through the first round of televised auditions after the performance. However, it’s still unclear how far into the season he goes.

Like the contestant, Katy is also the mother of a daughter, Daisy, with a fiancé. Orlando Bloom. The couple welcomed their only child in August 2020.
